support to Mishtu's Family
A young girl of 5, Mishtu is fighting against cancer. More tragic part is that her family has ran out of money in her treatment process and are badly in need of some funds to continue the treatment. Sudipta, one of our Members has been informed about this case by his friend Soumya (9474106877). Soumya met with them at CMRI Hospital on last Thursday following the advertiosement in Telegraph Metro. He spoke to the journalist Rith Basu of ABP to understand the genunity factor. Here are some of the facts - 1. Dr. Arpita Bhattacharya is consulting her. She is not charging any amount. Her line of treatment spread across 2.5 years - 3 years. Where she has estimated around 5 Lacs. 2. There is 75% chance of survival if the treatment is conducted properly 3. Financial condition of the Family: Mediocre Bengali family - Father is a school teacher. Overall they have invested what ever they could till date but now it's almost coming to halt in case they don't get funding.

Strength of Collective Effort: Our
support to Arnab Rana's Family
While handing over the money to the Doctor, She (Dr. Arpita Bhattacharya) introduced Soumya and his friends to Arnab Rana, a 3 years and 2 months old child from Sankrail, Midnapore. He has also been suffering from a similar disease, intensity being far more acute. He needs immediate medical care, but his family (his father is a driver) is not able to arrange for enough funds. His family is making frantic attempts to collect funds for the treatment without much success. So, the Hospital Authority was trying to forcibly release Arnab Rana in front of Soumya & his Friends. So, they made some immediate donations against his treatment to the hospital. Estimated expense details of Arnab's Treatment are attached herewith. The contact details of his family – Ankush K Rana (Father): 9932571127 Anudhwaj Rana (Uncle): 9932152135
* Update_01Feb'10: Arnab was transferred to ICU yesterday again as he started showing symptoms of respiratory problems and low blood-pressure. He is still in ICU, marginally better than yesterday. From financial perspective, they have got some money donated by various organizations at the hospital, and hence do not have any outstanding bills at the hospital. However they are still in need of money as they are purchasing the medicines from outside.
* Unfortunately Arnab Rana passed away on 3rd Feb'10. He was suffering from additional acute respiratory problem and succumbed to it. His soul may rest in peace.
Strength of Collective Effort: Our
support to Sumantra's Family
Sumantra Saha Jadavpur University passout 2008 Power Plant Engg.
presently persuing MBA degree from B.I.M. Trichi.
In a fateful incident on 7/12/2008 Sunday he met with an accident in
which he has been critically injured having sustained multiple
fractures in the thigh, the knee joint and the rib cage. One of his
lungs had been rendered useless in the accident and a cartilage
infection had developed over time. He was admitted in ABC Hospital
near Thillai nagar TRICHY,kerala. With continues bleeding eversince
his plasma level came down to 0.9(1.5 required for an operation). He
needed tremendous medical attention to prevent him from detoraiting
even more.
Unfotunately Sumantra died on 18/12/2008. The medical
expenses were very expensive (more than 3 lacs) and it was really
difficult for his family (Both parents are retired; Sumantra has a
younger-sister; He did his B.E. from Jadavpur University with help
of scholarships and was doing MBA after taking Bank-loans) to bear
such a huge expense. So Jagaran decided to collect money from the
members and contribute something (whatever be the amount) to
Sumantra's family to help them overcome this difficult financial
crisis.
Jagaran collected Rs 15000 and our Member Partha Maity and Priyanka
Maity visited Sumantra's house on 18th Jan'09 and handed over the
collected Rs. 15000/- to his Father.
With all this difficulties, their only hope was when Sumanta will
get a job they will have a good time again. But unfortunately that
didnt happened. We consoled his family and assured them we will
always be there incase of any help. He was prasing JU freinds and
Chennai college freinds for their extensive support. I promised them
, i will make another visit before i leave Durgapur.
